Given the increased awareness and incidence of celiac disease and gluten intolerance, Dr. Hauschka Skin Care is highlighting information about gluten content in our products to consumers.

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, the leading organization in raising awareness for celiac disease and gluten intolerance, reports that a shocking 1 in 133 Americans has celiac disease. For those who suffer from this disease, gluten causes the immune system to damage the small intestine, thereby impeding the absorption of essential food nutrients into the body.

At this time, the only remedy for celiac disease is to adhere to a 100% gluten-free diet. Many who live with the disease take the added precautions of using gluten-free personal care products, and even maintaining a gluten-free home.

Dr.Hauschka manufacturer WALA Heilmittel approached The German Celiac Society, DZG, an organization which advocates for those with gluten sensitivities, to have their products reviewed.

After a thorough evaluation, the DZG confirmed that the ingredients in 121 Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products meet their definition of gluten-free. To be considered gluten free, the DZG requires analysis of any product with ingredients from gluten-containing plants. Analysis must show the gluten content of the ingredients fall below the maximum allowed content for gluten-free foods.
